DON’T CONFUSE CERAMIC COATING WITH PAINT PROTECTION FILM (PPF)
Ceramic coating is entirely different to paint protection films. Ceramic coating is a liquid coating which can be applied over the top of a surface, where as paint protection film is a clear thick film which is layed over your paint or vinyl.
Ceramic Coating is designed to;
- Increase shine
- Create hydrophobic effect
- Provides greater ability to “buff out” damages
- Enhance UV protection to existing paint
- but it DOES NOT – stop stone chips OR stop anything that causes deep gouges or scrapes.
The beauty of ceramic coating is not just making it easier to clean your vehicle. It will also fill in all of the minor dips and grooves in your paint or vinyl wrap which tends to look like “orange peel”. This provides a finish which is super smooth and adds clarity to your paintwork.
If you want strong protection and cleaning to be a “thing of the past”,
Use PPF and Ceramic Coating together!

FAQ’s of Ceramic Coating
Can ceramic coating damage your paint?
How often should I wash my car if it has been coated?
At Auto Artisan we recommend light cleaning once a week, this is how you acheive the best results. Don’t forget, your car is coated and for many occasions you can literally just hose your car down and drive to ytour destination, the bulk of the dust and dirt should come off.
As the dirt, or grime from rain, etc builds up on your coating, the hydrophobic effects will reduce (water beading & sheeting). It is important to remove these surface contaminates often. This means you need to wash your car, preferably with the 2 bucket hand wash method.
How many layers of coating will I need?
Typically, we provide a 3 coats of protection, which comprises of 2 base coats and 1 layer of top coat. Depending on the product we are coating, we may only apply 2 coats. For example, if you have a matte finish, we would not want to add a top coat because it will increase the gloss levels.
