Automotive vinyl wrap is a type of adhesive film that is applied to the exterior of a vehicle to change its colour, finish, or protect the paint. It is made from a thin but durable vinyl material that requires specialist installation to ensure proper surface conformity and adhesion.

While it serves as a major visual element of your vehicle, vinyl bears little similarity to paint. Automotive vinyl is generally made of a PVC or Polyurethane based film consisting of a laminate layer, face film and adhesive backing. Because of this, its durability and performance throughout its service life will need to be considered differently from a painted surface.
The answer to this question will be...
The answer to this question will be dependent on factors such as vehicle use, its exposure to the elements, and ongoing maintenance. Whilst manufacturers will provide guidelines for product durability, ranging from months to years, this durability is only a reference point for service life in optimal conditions.

Automotive vinyl wrap material and PPF material are made of completely different chemical formulations resulting in products that have vastly different methods of installation, performance, and service life.
Paint protection film is formulated...
Paint protection film is formulated to self-heal when exposed to direct or ambient heat. However, this ability is limited to minor cosmetic damage that has not broken the surface of the film.
Ceramic coating provides an additio...
Ceramic coating provides an additional layer of protection against UV rays and contaminant ingress by filling in the pores of a substrate and creating a new ceramic layer over the original surface. In this regard, these types of coatings can greatly enhance surface gloss, hydrophobicity, UV rejection and protection against environmental contamination. However, once cured, a ceramic coating is only microns thick meaning that its ability to withstand direct physical damage is limited.
Ceramic coatings or liquid sealants...
Ceramic coatings or liquid sealants pair perfectly with vinyl material, creating a barrier over the film that prevents ingress of contaminants into its pores.
It is best to avoid wax-based coatings for this very same reason – wax works by filling in pores which, for a softer material like vinyl, can cause premature degradation.
Because vinyl is a soft, porous mat...
Because vinyl is a soft, porous material, it can degrade more quickly than a traditional paint finish if left unattended. A regular maintenance schedule that includes immediate spot cleaning and weekly full vehicle wash should be followed.

If there are installation or workmanship issues that occur within the first 30 days of installation, these issues will be rectified during our complementary 30-day check-in. Many common issues such as bubbling or haze through a film naturally resolve without intervention once the film has cured.
Outside of this, vinyl material is not immune to cosmetic or structural damage that arise out of regular use of your vehicle. The good news here is that damage to vinyl wraps, vinyl decals and PPF are easily rectified, with only the damaged portion needing to be replaced.

You definitely can! Removing a wrap, whether vinyl or PPF that is still within in its service life can be removed safely. Any wrap that has been adhered for longer or is showing signs of decay may cause problems.
However, regardless of of these factors, all vinyl removal requires specialist tools and techniques in order to ensure safe and efficient removal. Once a vinyl cures, it sets with a peel adhesion (how much force is required to peel it) of 9kg of force per centimetre width of material, meaning that we don’t recommend trying a removal at home!
