VEHICLE WRAPPING TODAY…
MOVING THE INDUSTRY FORWARD
Would it be any surprise to you that I still get asked what it is I do for work after telling them “we wrap cars”? To some of you it’s a short answer and sufficient, but to most it’s only just skimming the surface and vehicle wraps are much more complex than one would think.
Vehicle wrapping, at its core, is the application of a PVC vinyl to the exterior, or interior, of a vehicle to customise its appearance whether it be for advertising purposes or purely to personalise the look of your car. Vehicle wraps are easily removed to return the vehicle to its original condition. To me, and my team, it’s so much more…
Having been in this industry for over 10 years I have been fortunate enough to have been a part of the vehicle wrapping revolution. When I began in, vehicle wraps were primarily for commercial use, where we would place logos and advertising on the side of vehicles for customers to use as part of their brand building and marketing strategies. Move on another 10 years and we have specialised automotive films made up of a variety of colours, finishes and textures to achieve whatever our imagination allows us, be it for advertising or automotive restyling.
Alongside the craft, the community and following has exploded with car culture being the catalyst, photographers, video producers, car clubs and enthusiasts alike would all tell you that vehicle wrapping is a form of expression, an art, an exciting display of personality combined with a passion for cars. This is not a fad, or a trend, as personalisation and individuality is a part of our DNA and wrapping is just another vehicle for it.
The industry is dominating, it’s exciting and becoming a popular career choice for the young vehicle enthusiasts but it’s also for those looking for something different and creative where we all have a chance to play a role whether it be as a designer, print operator, vehicle wrapper, sales manager, marketing manager and so on. All the key ingredients for a functioning wrap shop.
VEHICLE WRAPS TRAINING
Auto Artisan Group are one of the many wrap shops still passionate 10 years on with what this industry has to offer. However, we are one of the few that have been fortunate enough to remain at the forefront of this industry, involving ourselves from day one in the development of the skills and product research required to be the best we can be.
We align ourselves closely with suppliers like Graphic Art Mart and manufacturers such as Avery Dennison, working together to help promote vehicle wrapping and wrap training available through Vehicle Wrap Workshops offered by Graphic Art Mart in Australia.
Avery Dennison is a popular choice and the leaders in vinyl wrap films, having them on board and supporting what we do is invaluable, we have support first and foremost that is past onto each and every one of our customers but we also have access to a wide range of products as well as a mutual interest in the development of vehicle wrapping and the skill required when using their products. A skill that we continue to evaluate and develop so that we can deliver the best and latest techniques in the Graphic Art Mart Vehicle Wrap Workshops together with Avery Dennison and Auto Artisan Group.
